The Old Town Square
The spires of the church of Our Lady before Tyn and the splendid Renaissance buildings, including the Kinsky palace, overlook Prague's parlor. Prague’s famous astronomical clock – Medieval technical masterpiece – is located here, on the Gothic tower of the Old Town Hall. During the week the square is filled with market stands and becomes the ideal sport for exciting city events. Nearby is the Jan Hus monument and Gothic House At the Stone Bell.

Wenceslas Square
An elegant and large square in the heart of the New City, it has been the stage to several important events in European history: the Red Army that liberated the country from Nazism, the defeat of the Prague Spring and the fall of communism following the Velvet Revolution of 1989.  Not far off is the stone commemorating the suicide of Jan Palach, the young student who set himself on fire in the winter of 1969 to protest Soviet invasion.  Filled with shops, restaurants, movie theaters and night clubs, the square is popular with the locals who meet near the equestrian statue of St. Wenceslas. At Christmas and East the square fills with holiday markets and stands.

Charles Square
The old cattle market is now Prague’s largest square. Here you can admire the Baroque architecture of the church of St. Ignatius and New Town Hall, the site of the first Defenestration of Prague, the incident that triggered the Hussite revolt in the fifteenth century. At the south-west corner of the square, the legendary Faust House kindles your imagination and delights you with its seventeenth century décor, holding the secrets of the magicians and alchemists from the court of Rudolph II.
