BY PLANE
The airport for St. Petersburg is Pulkovo. Russian domestic flights arrive at Terminal 1; Terminal 2 is the landing area for international flights coming from the major European cities (intercontinental flights from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York etc., land at the Moscow airport). The airport is located 17 km south of the city center. To reach the city center, see the directions below.

From the Pulkovo airport – terminal 1

By bus
Take the Airport Express Shuttle to the Moskovskaya or Pushkinskaya stop, and then take the subway.
Or, take Bus 39 to the Moskovskaya stop, and then take the subway.

By collective taxi
Collective taxi number K-39.  Route: Moskovskaya plaza, Ligovsky prospekt, Hotel Moskva (across from Aleksandro Nevskaya Lavra monastery).

By taxi
At the terminal exit. Agree to the rate before boarding.

From the airport Pulkovo – terminal 2

By bus
Take the Airport Express Shuttle (it leaves from Pulkovo 1, and stops at Pulkovo 2 only on request) to Moskovskaya or Pushkinskaya station, then by subway.
Bus 13 to Moskovskaya station, then by subway.

BY TRAIN
St. Petersburg has five train stations where Russian trains arrive and depart for Baltic Nations, the States of the former Soviet Union, and other European countries.

Moscow Station (Moskovsky Vokzal)
Trains from / to Moscow, Adler, Sochi, Arkhangelsk, Ekaterinburg, Kazhan, Ivanovo, Nizhni Novgorod, Perm, Samara, Chelabinsk, Vladivoskok, Murmansk.
The station is located at Prospekt Nevsky, 85
Subway: line 1, Ploschad Vosstania stop; line 3, Mayakovskaya stop.

Baltic Station (Baltijsky Vokzal)
Local lines from / to Petrodvorets (Peterhof), Lomonosov, Oranienbaum, Gatchina, Luga.
The station is located at Obvodni Shore 120.
Subway: line 1, Baltiyskaya stop.
Bus stop for Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine and other regions of Russia.

Vitebsky Station (Vitebsky Vokzal)
Trains from / to Riga, Tallinn, Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Brest, Odessa, Smolensk, Kiev, Minsk, Prague, Warsaw, Berlio, Dnepropetrovska, Budapest, and Vilnius.
The station is located at Zagorodny Prospekt, 52.
Subway: line 1, Pushkinskaya stop.
Terminus of the line of the Airport Express shuttle.
Terminus of the bus line for Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine and other regions of Russia.

Finland Station (Finlandsky Vokzal)
Trains from / to Helsinki, Vyborg, Zhelenogorsk, Sestoretsk, Repino, Komarovo, Carelia.
The station is at Plaza Lenina, 6.
Subway: line 1, Ploschad Lenina stop.

Ladosgky Station (Ladožsky Vokzal)
Trains from / to Helsinki, Murmansk, Vologda, Svetogorsk, Kosomuksha.
The station is at Zanevsky Prospekt, 73.
Subway: line 4, stop Ladozhskaya.


BY CAR

St. Petersburg is a large city with nearly five million inhabitants; traffic in the center is rather chaotic, while in the periphery it flows smoothly.
The major highways that arrive in the city are:
- from the north, E18 from / to Helsinki;
- from the south, E105 from /per Novogorod and Moscow;
- from the east, E105  - M18 from / to Petrozavodsk;
- from the west, M20 / E77 from / to Pskov and Riga and E 20 from / to Tallin.

Tourists who do not live in Russia and intend to drive in the States of the Federation must have an internationally authenticated driver’s license (Geneva 1949 and Vienna 1968 forms). The Green card is not valid in Russia and foreign insurance is not recognized. Temporary insurance with the Russian company Ingosstrakh is subscribed to at the border.
In order to drive in Russia, it is obligatory to:
- keep low-beam headlights on outside of residential areas (always on motorcycles);
- have a set of replacement lamps in the car;
- fasten seatbelts;
- have children (younger than 12) travel with a booster seat and seatbelt;
- have an extinguisher;
- have a first aid kit.


BY BOAT
St. Petersburg has a sea and a river station. The connections with the cities of the Gulf of Finland are not very well developed and run only from May to September. Ships also stop over at St. Petersburg from cruises on the route for the Baltic Capitals.

Maritime Station
On the island of Vasilesky, directly on the Gulf of Finland.
Passenger ferries arrive and depart from / to Kaliningrad, the Baltic Nations, and Germany, and cruise ships also sail from here.
The station is at Plošad’ Morskoj Slavy, 1.
Subway: Primorskaya stop.

River Station
On the Neva, the river of St. Petersburg. Motorboats leave from here for Moscow, Kiži, Konevec and Solovki, for the island of Vaalam, the islands of the Lakes Onega and Ladoga, and cruises on the Volga.
The station is at Prospekt Obuhovskoj Oborony, 195.
Subway: Proletarskaya and Lomonosovskaya stops.
