Pavlovsk and Carskoe Celo, the magnificence of Catherine II

Pavlovsk Palace
This complex includes the magnificent palace of Paul I and the even more fabulous garden. A gift from Catherine II to her son Paul, the palace and park are the work of the top European architects of the era: the Italians Rossi and Quarenghi and the Englishman Charles Cameron. With its English-style garden and rococo whims inside the palace, in the Egyptian vestibules and Italian rotunda, as well as in the park and the colonnade of Apollo, it is one of the most original works in the history of European art and architecture.
Carskoe Celo Palace - Puskin
Also called Palace of Catherine or Village of the Czars, in 1937, it became Puskin in honor of the great poet who lived and studied here. The region is located 30 kilometers from St. Petersburg; the artifices of the splendid complex are still those of Rastrelli and Cameron. The famous Amber Room is located in the palace, and the park has a French-style and an English garden. Also a must for fans is the Puskin school where the poet studied.
