How To Get There, Spain
By plane. The “Federico Garcia Lorca” airport is 15 km from downtown Granada, with connections by the Spanish national carrier ‘Iberia’ and some of the best known low-cost companies. From the airport you can reach Granada by car going on A92; or by bus, taking the airport company’s direct line to Gran Vía de Colón, then Plaza Isabel La Católica, at the heart of town. The service is available from 7:50 to 19:25 and costs €3. If you prefer taking a taxi, you will spend about €20.
By train. Andalusia is well served by RENFE (Red National de Ferrocarrilles de España), the national train service; to arrive in Granada, take line LR16 from Madrid (6 hours) or the T17 that connects Barcelona with the city going through Valencia (12 hours). Granada’s train station is on Avenida de Andaluces, 1.5 km from downtown; connections with the center is insured by bus lines 3 and 11.
By car. Granada is on the Southern portion of the Iberian Peninsula. If you come from Barcelona, go on highway A7 until you reach Lorca, then go on road N342 and take the A9 to Granada after about 200 km. If you come from Madrid, go along the A4 Autovía del Sur and, after 290 km, enter the A44 Autovía de Sierra Nevada: you will be in Granada in an hour and a half.
By pullman. Granada is a hub for daily Pullman transportation services to/from Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia; the Pullman station is on Carrettera de Jaén - 3 km from downtown - from which different bus lines go directly to the center.
