Itinerary on Lapp sleighs
Is it original to propose a race in high altitude on sleighs pulled by dogs? Absolutely yes! Granada offers this extraordinary emotion for both adults and children. Only 30 minutes by car in the direction of the Sierra Nevada, you will be thrown into the midst of an unforgettable adventure 3,000 meters above sea level!
After arriving to the zone of Borreguiles, a brief stop at the restaurant close to the cable car station precedes the climb, during which you will be able to admire a fantastic panorama; high up, a light alloy Lapp sleigh awaits you, covered in reindeer skin and a robust pack of Northern dogs guided by their musher.
The course has a maximum duration of 40 minutes, during which you can admire the highlands of Granada, the Madonna of the Snow, La Vega and other mountain ranges: a spectacle often shared with other travelers from different nationalities in full harmony with untouched Nature in the Sierra Nevada National Park.
The dogs enjoy special treatment that reveals the particular relationship these animals have with their musher; during the pause before the return trip, the driver carefully feeds his dogs and introduces them to the children that participate in the excursion: an entertaining moment that fires up everyone’s enthusiasm.
This high-level excursion lasts between 30 and 40 minutes.
Excursion to Peña Escrita
In Almuñécar, a bit over an hour’s drive from Granada, sea and Nature are brought together and give birth to the Peña Escrita ecological park. An oasis if tranquility far from the usual tourist routes, it is a great opportunity for an extraordinary excursion in direct contact with the tropical soul of the Costa del Sol.
Starting from the Almuñécar municipal palace in direction to the Seco river, after you go through exotic custard apple fields you reach the proximities of the Roman Aqueduct, first of the mild gradients that introduce the spectator to the spectacular fields of avocado and mango along the Cordovilla slope.
After the valleys of the Green river and the Seco river, you will enjoy indescribable landscapes interrupted here and there by the appearance of faraway buildings, like the Farmhouse of La Bóveda – from Visigoth times – and Los Castellos, and old and crumbling Arab fortress.
After a while you get to the heart of the park, where ostriches, deer and wild boar appear; the Mediterranean vegetation gradually merges with that of the tropics, while Mediterranean pines, olives and exotic plants mingle. It is a lively and colorful triumph that precedes the Cantalobos Inn, where you can taste excellent Iberian cured ham and many other local specialties.
You can stay a few days at the inn, in comfortable and well-equipped Nordic-style cabins, practicing numerous activities like paragliding, horseback riding, mountain bike and delta-wing (from 1,100 meters the view of the park is fascinating, believe it!)
The excursion lasts about 5 hours.
