from 24/07/2008 to 28/10/2008
Hadrian at the London British Museum
From July 24 - October 28, 2008, the British Museum will host "Hadrian: Empire and Conflict" .
The exhibit's name: "Hadrian: Empire and Conflict" emphasizes how the exhibit is inextricably tied to one of the greatest and most controversial Roman Emperors. The London British Museum exhibit features objects from over thirty countries dominated by the Roman Empire in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Africa.
The exhibit intends to surpass the success of the recently closed Terracotta Army exhibit with works gathered from the Hadrian Empire era, from 117 to 138 BC when the Roman Emperor died. Most of the objects on display are excellently preserved sculptures, architectural fragments, bronzes, scrolls and precious metal objects.
The museum has collected objects that narrate Hadrian's gestures, the ferocity with which he fought his enemies countered by his love for culture. These and other contradictions will be displayed in a retrospective exhibit on the enigmatic Emperor.
You can reserve exhibit admission tickets on the British Museum circuit.
