One of the symbols of London, this fortified complex was built in various phases starting in 1078 under William the Conqueror.
Over the centuries the Tower of London was used as a prison, treasury, arsenal and even as a zoo. Today it is one of the major sights in London, and contains the Treasury of the Crown, Medieval Palace and the infamous Bloody Tower. Take one of the free guided tours of the Yeoman Warders to listen to the tragic stories and wonders hidden in the Tower. A tip: arrive early!
