Westminster Abbey, United Kingdom
Certainly the most visited church in the United Kingdom, this splendid abbey in early English Gothic style was built between the 12th and 13th centuries and underwent modifications in subsequent epochs.
It is one of the symbols of the Crown and British nation, the spot where many of the sovereigns in English history were crowned and buried. Not to be missed: Henry VII's chapel, Poet's Corner, where the most important English literary figures are buried, Coronation Chair, Edward the Confessor's Chapel and the Chapter House.
