Hyeres Beaches, France
The peninsula of Gien and the islands of Hyères have a great variety of beaches, suitable for those who practice sports (sailing, windsurfing, fun boarding, sea kayaking, diving) as well as those who love to simply do nothing but sunbathe while sipping a drink in good company.
Almanarre, a mostly wild beach with about 4 km of sand and fine pebbles, is on the west side of the peninsula of Giens, in front of the humid area of the Etangs De Pesquiers. When the wind picks up, this coast becomes a playground for fun boarding, kitesurfing and windsurfing fanatics. Naturally, world cups take place there and it is well-stocked with specialized shops and surfing schools. Nearby, you will find the thalassotherapy center of Hyères, ideal for anti-stress treatments, aesthetic marine spa treatments and "remise en forme" programs.
Ayguade is of pebbles, and the water is shallow. In the area around the beach there are parking lots, playgrounds, picnic areas, bars, restaurants and shops. This beach boasts the accessibility certification known as "Tourisme & Handicap".
Plage de la Bergerie: on the opposite part of the coast from Almanarre, this long beach is ideal for children and those who are learning to windsurf. It is well equipped, with shops, cafes and entertainment, and has the "Tourisme & Handicap" certification.
La Capte, quieter compared to crowded Almanarre in high season, is visited mostly by locals and campers. At the port of La Capte, you'll find plenty of inviting restaurants.
The peninsula of Giens also includes small beaches such as like L’Arbousiere, La Baume, Le Bouvet, L’Estanci, L’Hermitage, Le Pontillon, Le Predeau and other creeks to explore.
The island of Levant, one of the greater islands of Hyères, is mostly a military zone belonging to the French Navy, except for the west spur, where the beach belonging to the nudist colony, Domaine De Heliopolis, is located.
