The glamour of the vieille ville, the historic medieval city center on the hill of Castéou, 204 m high, has remained unchanged. From here you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the modern district as well as the harbor between Cap Bénat and the peninsula of Giens.

Only some ruins remain of the feudal castle, the Château des Aires. The spectacular panoramic view can still be enjoyed, however.

The archeological site of Olbia preserves the remains of a fortified colony of Greek origin, dating back to the fourth century B.C.

Salt mines in the Giens peninsula are an oasis for bird watchers, where you can also enjoy interesting guided tours. In collaboration with the city of Hyères and the LPU (bird protection league) of the PACA region, the Festival des Oiseaux is organized every year. It is an interesting event focused on the world of ornithology, and includes excursions to the salt mines, exhibitions, lectures and shows.

The islands of Porquerolles, Port Cros and Le Levant enjoy about 300 sunny days per year. Known since the time of the Renaissance as the "Golden Islands", this name must have been due to the golden reflection of their rocks in certain lighting conditions. Whatever they are called, they certainly deserve a vacation  dedicated just to them, especially for those who love beaches, hiking, sailing and diving, for which there are also various recognized schools. The lighthouse of Porquerolles, which can be visited in summer, is a truly memorable observation point. Don't miss them!

The underwater path of Port Cros is a delight for lovers of snorkeling: 600 meters long and situated in the Baie de la Palud, it is marked just like the paths on the surface. Traveling along it in small groups, with a mask and snorkel, is an extraordinary experience. To admire the beautiful backdrops of the natural maritime park, however, you don't have to go underwater. A trip on the glass-bottomed boat run by the TLV-TVM company, which leaves the Tour Fondue on the archipelago of Giens, ensures a spectacular view of the underwater flora and fauna.

Fort Ste.-Agathe is an ancient fortress situated on the high, scenic observation point in Porquerolles. It is currently the site of an underwater archeology show.

The island of Port-Cros, which went through centuries of colonization, is protected by different fortresses, such as the Fort de l’Estissac, Fort du Moulin, Fort de l’Eminence, Fort de la Vigne, Fort de Port Man and the Fort Napoléon, very interesting to see as you travel the scenic paths.

Typical artisan porcelain objects, flowers, canvas, books, paintings and furniture in marine style... In the winding streets of the historic center of Hyeres, it is really a pleasure to pass through stores, stalls selling produce, art galleries and artisan shops, like a bee from flower to flower. To then, of course, relax in a cafe of or crêperie...

The Place Massillon square, located near the medieval Tour des Templiers, is enlivened by the rich stalls of the Provençal market. Given the place's vocation for outdoor water activities, you will find many sporting goods stores along the beaches.
