Amorgos Getting Around, Greece
The island has an excellent public bus service that connects all the main beaches and towns on Amorgos: Katapola, Chora and Aegiali to the Aghia Anna, Aghios Pavlos, Paradisia beaches and the bay of Aegiali. There are also good connections between Katapola, the main port, and Chora, the capital of Amorgos. Buses also depart Chora for the Hosoviotissa monastery and for the mountain villages in the Kato Meria area. Private boats leave Katapola and Aegiali every half hour to beaches that are only accessible from the sea.
For greater independence, you'll find rental scooters and cars in Katapola, Aegiali and Chora. We recommend you rent a car because the island is 32 kilometers long, 8 wide but most of all, it reaches 821 meters high: turning, climbing and descending roads on a scooter can be demanding.
