Not just beautiful, Santorini also holds exciting festivals and cultural, music, folk and religious events between June and September.
We suggest you check out the Ifaisteia Festival held in August in Thira which includes a line-up of events, concerts, dance performances and fireworks.
The International Music Festival is held in September. Classical music and jazz with internationally acclaimed musicians from all over the world perform at the Nomikos Conference Center in Thira.
The Episkopi festival (religious festival) is held on August 15th every year in Mesa Gonia. Event goers are offered the traditional bean puree.
There are numerous religious celebrations for the village patron saints with feasts, dancing and local food stands. Of note: the Profitis Ilias celebration at the monastery in Pyrgos and in Thira; the Sotiros Metamorphosis on August 6 and the Virgin Mary on August 15 are celebrated in Akrotiri; on September 24 in Kamari they celebrate the Panaria Myrtidiotissa with parades and feasts. Agios Ioannis is celebrated on August 29 in Perissa and the patron stain Agion Epta Paidion is celebrated in Oia on August 4.
