Santorini Shopping, Greece
There are a lot of shopping opportunities on Santorini. From jewelry to clothing, sandals and rungs, from lace to food: shopping for local products in the island villages can be fun even if the shops and souvenir stores are filled with a hodgepodge of goods, especially in Thira. Segnaliamo a Thira, la Mati Gallery e la Palia Fabrika Art Gallery, entrambi showroom di gioielli e di oggetti di design. Still in Thira, home linens with traditional Santorini lace and wool rugs are on sale at Step 566 and Costas Dimitrokalis.
There are more elegant and original stores in Oia like the Kallisti Workshop owned by Dimitris Kolioussis, leading European icon painter, or the Eponimo, selling hand-blown glass. Jewelry and fabric stores abound. Fira is famous for its colorful ceramics and a trip to Adreas Alegragis' workshop is worth your while.
Don't forget the local food and wine. There are various wine shops in Pyrgos selling sweet raisin wine. We recommend Hatzidakis, all natural. For dried tomatoes and tomato paste, try Petros Ikonomou in Megalochori near Akrotiri. To finish you list of local products, good quality capers and beans can be found in the markets and shops in every village.
