It is held every year, in March and it is such an important race, that it was inserted into the tour of the professionals, known as the ProTour, together with other world classic competitions and the three main tours (Tour of Italy, Tour of France and the Tour of Spain). 180 miles long, it is among the longest and unpredictable, although it looks more like a speed trail than a climbing challenge.
