Sanremo In Bloom, Italy

Every year, in January, Sanremo pays homage to its flowers by holding a parade of floats...

The event dates back to a parade of coaches decorated by Sanremo's flower masters that took place during the first years of the 20th century.
The show was so successful that the city decided to replicate it...until present time.
Today, 13 municipalities compete for coveted palm for best float, based on a set theme. The municipality of Sanremo is present only as a non-competitive participant!
Preparations last for months, while flower craftsmen plan every detail of their float and leave nothing to chance.
The results are spectacular.

The parade marks the end of the festival, ending on a Sunday after a week of enjoying the best of Sanremo, its flower festival (www.festivaldeifiori.it).
The Flower Festival is held at the Palafiori (Corso Garibaldi) and features a busy calendar of events, such as the quality award to the producers of flower shows, the bouquet competition, the flower-garnished aperitifs, the bridal fashion shows, or the flower business conferences.
