Val Gardena is famous for its wooden sculptures, descendents of a long crafts tradition that took the Gardenesi wooden sculptures all the way to Russia! In fact, woodworking has enthralled valley dwellers for almost four centuries and, before the onset of tourism, this was the area's main source of income.

This acclaimed talent also led to the recent foundation of Unika, the association of Gardenesi sculptors, including over 60 artists whose works are on display in New York and major European cities.
