I thought the hotel was very nice-- charming-- classic Florence. In a very good location to everything.

My room was spacious and the bathroom was very nice. Great view from the room and the terrace. Breakfast was very good. I was there for 6 days.

The negatives-- lack of English speaking staff. Normally I wouldn't complain about this and for the first few days of my stay I got by OK with tour pamphlets and hand gestures.

However on the last day I was very concerned that I would miss my flight because of language barriers. The staff is not there 24 hours. So no one was there to call a cab for me in the morning until the woman who served breakfast came in at 730 AM-- fortunately she could speak some English (she was from North Africa I believe) and so she took good care of me.

But it was very stressful-- I felt all alone. I was shocked at how little English was spoken by the man and the woman that I believe own or run the hotel.

I know it is in Italy, but they do advertise with an English website, and they are in a very heavy tourist area where people from all over the world are using English to communicate. The taxi drivers and waiters had better English! Even when I thought we were communicating, it turned out that there was a big gap in our understanding.

There were 2 young people who could speak English but they were there only sporadically.

Another minor negative is that Breakfast does not start until 8AM. This is not very convenient for early tours and departures.

Also beware that the hotel has a ton of stairs-- there is a very tiny elevator up to it, but there are still stairs to the hotel and to some of the rooms at the top of the hotel. (my room was at the top-- great view but difficult with the luggage)
