Dinosaur Trails, Italy
Hunting for dinosaur footprints.
It's just a one hour car ride along the exciting itinerary we describe below.
Leave Cortina on SS 51. After Vodo Cadore, take the road for Cibiana di Cadore, a picturesque village with magnificent murals you won't want to miss.
In Forno di Zoldo, take the road for Zoppe'.
From Sagui (via Sagui) follow path nr. 471.
The path is well-marked and takes about one hour with a more difficult end segment. At the base of the enormous isolated rock you can admire the dinosaur footprints dating back to the Late Triassic era - a sensational fact considering that the Dolomites were once under water.
One explanation for these small dinosaurs could be in found in the area's aspects, probably rich in food and vegetation for herbivores and therefore inviting to predators.
