Mario Rimoldi Modern Art Museum, Italy
A collection of Italian twentieth century art including De Pisis, De Chirico, Carrà, Guttuso, Morandi, Vedova.
Mario Rimoldi was a Cortina hotel owner with an extraordinary love of art. He bought his first paintings in 1921 and has since then enriched his collection to make it one of the best expressions of twentieth century Italian painting.
Rimoldi became friends with the Ferrara artist, De Pisis and this friendship led him to own 54 of the artist's works, many of high pictorial interest.
Upon his death, most of the collection wound up in the Modern Art Gallery named after him, tied to the so-called “Regole d’Ampezzo”.
Today, the Gallery hosts impressive works like those by De Pisis, Le Bagnanti di Carena, lo Squero di San Travaso di Semeghini, la Zolfara di Guttuso, il San Sebastiano di Garbari.
The gallery is found in the Ciasa de ra Regoles.
