Hotel La Residenza, Venice city center Italy

The hotel is old (this is Venice) but elegant and clean, really well located in a delightful square, close to everything. The key downside, and the reason we would probably never stay there again, was the daytime host/manager...a fellow we came to call "bastardo" because his attitude lacked even a nuance of customer service. 10 minutes late for breakfast? No coffee then, and no apology for no coffee either. Sit in the wrong place; you'll be reminded sternly. Just a very unfriendly guy. Evening/night staff was cordial and helpful, but the day guy has got to go! Only time he came even close to smiling was when we paid the bill. Summary: good hotel, great location, but daytime host/manager needs a personality injection. Bastardo indeed.

What did not meet your expectations?
No working TV's. We were told they would be fixed next day. Must have been Italian time -- 3 days later, nothing. And no discount for this, either.
