The accomodations were fine. Our friends had been upgraded to a large suite and they had only three in their party but our family of four was not upgraded. Ofcourse, i realize that upgrades are by no means a guarantee so its not the hotel's fault...just giving a basis as to why we selected this hotel. The kids slept in a fold out sofa bed in the living room which made it pretty crowded in the area where a family would normally congregate. Breakfast buffet is nothing to write home about...our hotel in Florence had a much better one and the hotel was quite a bit cheaper. The worse part, besides the lack of internet in the room (the only hotel that we stayed in that didn't have internet in the room...geez join the 21st century san marco hotel!) was that I was trying to get a hotel receipt before we left which showed the VAT we paid and they refused to give me one! We were trying to get the substantial VAT back when we left Italy and needed an intemized receipt in order to do so. We were checking out in the late afternoon even tho we had paid till the next day and for some reason they were unable to give us a receipt and were not nice about it at all. I think that was the worst part about it, the way the front desk staff person treated me when i was trying to get the receipt. I was not nasty or anything, just persistent. I asked to speak to the manager and she called someone on the phone, spoke with this unknown person briefly in italian then upon hanging up told me i couldn't get one but they could fax it to me. This ofcourse was of no use to me, as i patiently explained to her, because i needed to present it to the VAT office PRIOR to leaving italy! Generally, front desk personnel were unfriendly, snobby and unaccomodating. Altho there is a nice kitchen, not even the basic amentities like a corkscrew were provided so there's really no use in having it except maybe to keep your wine cool, after going out and buying your own corkscrew. Don't even think about asking for more towels, a corkscrew, etc. from the front desk because you won't get it. If you book online, check price frequently because it does fluctuate. I actually had to re-book to get a slightly lower rate.

Many things. No internet service except in small area in the hallway of the main bldg. One front desk staff member was helpful but most were not. (especially the women),large bags of laundry sat outside our apt door for most of our stay
