Carnival of Venice 2012: Life is theater. It's time to get masked!

From February 4 - 21, everyone in costume for a bit of healthy and fun folly in the magnificent settings of the Carnival of Venice!
"Life is theater. It's time to get masked": this year's theme is expressed in a rich line-up of parades, street performances, shows and concerts.
St. Mark's Square will shine with the Gran Teatro billing extravagant shows from the past and events like the Flight of the Angel, the Parade of the Marias and the best masked costume contest.
Happenings include the Night of the Land of Plenty, the Grand Carnival Ball, the Grand Toast at the Wine Fountain, the Water Parade and February 14th dedicated to love.
The carnival will come to a dazzling end on February 21st with the Gran Finale of the Carnival Festival and, at midnight, the captivating "Vogata del Silenzio", symbolic water parade of gondolas from the Rialto Bridge to the San Marco basin.
