Granada has a wide variety of shops, modern shopping centers and craft shops, where masters in the elaboration of leather, wood and ceramic goods keep the prestigious local traditions alive, some of which are hundreds of years old, born from the fusion of different Andalusian cultures.

The influence of Greeks and Romans, Muslims and Western Christians is found in the manufacture of fabrics, the famous flamenco guitars and other products of incomparable beauty, like inlaid boxes, whose creation can be watched at Cuesta de Gomérez. The markets in downtown Granada and the shops in the Corral del Carbón and the Alcaicería offer all types of products, souvenirs and refined fabrics.

The heart of the city houses most of the shops in Granada. Renowned international fashion firms are located on the Gran Via del Colón and Calle de los Reyes Católicos; the neighboring Calle de los Mesones, Calle Zacatín and Calle Recogidas are always full of people visiting the elegant stores offering clothing and other products. Interestingly, some shops in the Plaza Nueva offer original ethnic jewelry at affordable prices.  

On the streets of Calderería Nueva and Vieja - always around the Plaza Nueva - you can find perfumes and clothes in 1960s fashion; for flowers, fresh fruit and garments, go to the district of La Chana (Wednesday mornings) or the Cartuja, close to the university (Sunday mornings). Given quantity and quality, the small markets of the Plaza Larga (in the Albaicín) and the Zaidín, the city’s most populous district, are also notable.
