Seville Shopping, Spain
Seville offers a decidedly original shopping experience. In addition to universally known stores, there are also traditional shops that sell artisan products, unique souvenirs, shoes and purses. In the heart of the city, it's nice to go into certain fascinating shops with old signs and furniture from a time that is truly past, gone, finished!
Calle Tetuán is the main shopping street. Between the Campana and Plaza Nueva, it is full of shops selling the best foreign brands as well as refined boutiques. As soon as you go onto the nearby Calle Sierpes you'll find an interesting and varied market, with shoes, clothing and wedding dresses designed and made in Spain, highly sought after and often embellished with hand embroidery.
In addition to the traditional shops of the city, Seville has 'mercadillos', frequented by those in search of antique pieces, antique books, stamps and used objects, at generally good prices. The most famous of these popular outdoor markets is ‘El Jueves’, which takes place on Thursdays on Calle Feria (Barrio de la Feria) and sells used clothes, furniture, paintings and much more.
Every Sunday morning, in Plaza el Cabildo (Cathedral area) there is a coin and stamp fair, while in Plaza de la Alfalfa you can admire several varieties of birds and domestic animals. The interesting mercadillo in Plaza del Museo collects the works of sculptors and painters who sell their creations, some of them truly extraordinary.
