Antibes, France

"Everything here shines, everything blooms and sings", Victor Hugo wrote: overlooking the Baie des Anges, this exclusive French Riviera city features multiple points of interest, including villas, museums, beaches and gorgeous views.

The prominent Grimaldi Castle, rising sheer from the sea, is the site of the Musée Picasso, whose art is preserved in a truly evocative location. Also unforgettable are Raymond Peynet's nostalgic lovers cartoon strips preserved with many other creations by this eclectic illustrator and cartoonist in a museum dedicated to him. Those fortunate enough to celebrate their wedding in Antibes receive a “diplome d’amour” [a lover's diploma] from the city hall as testament of their bond with this city.

Antibes hosts an extensive and exciting calendar of events, which brings year-round entertainment to the city: Jazz Brass Band Revelations is a musical event attended every June by an enthusiastic international audience during which bands from around Europe march along a very colorful parade of rafts decorated with flowers; also worthy of mention are: the Battle of the Flowers, which showcases the most unique floral creations, and St. Pierre's Festival, held in honor of the patron saint of fishermen, which includes concerts, popular dances, strolls of the old city center, sampling of local products, fishing tournaments, and children's art and underwater photography contests; every January Antibes also hosts the Sacred Music Festival, held in the city's cathedral church.
