Cagnes-Sur-Mer, France

Approximately a dozen km from Nice, Cagnes-sur-Mer is a walled city.

The trip is worth it for the visit to the fourteenth-century castle (closed Tuesdays) built by the Grimaldi family. The inside is interesting as it houses the ethnographic museum of the olive tree and a collection of modern art.
After sampling Nice's museum offerings, you must stop at the Musée Renoir, the villa where the artist spent the last years of his life. You do not want to miss his studio, preserved just as the artist left it.
