Church Of S. Maria Delle Grazie, Italy

Initial settlement from where the community of Sant'Agata developed, the Church of S. Maria delle Grazie is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Graces.

Legend has it that the daughter of young Marc Anthony Festinese of the prestigious Festinese family from Massa Lubrense was kidnapped by a wolf and later found in a corner of the small village.
Right on that spot, the Festinese gentleman made a vow to the Virgin and built this church.
Today, S. Maria delle Grazie stands out for its characteristic majolica clock on the bell tower above the façade. The church features a remarkable major altar, built with rare stones by Dionisio Lazzari, a great Florentine craftsman from the Renaissance.
The side altars are dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary and to St. Anthony of Padua.
The church also displays valuable paintings, such as Our Lady of the Graces by Giovanni Antonino D'amato the Young.
