Opera Season
At Liceu The Gran Teatre del Liceu always has a great opera season, normally performed by Liceu's chorus and orchestra.
Symphony Season
At Palau de la Musica Catalana The Palau is the spot par excellence for classical music in Barcelona. The season is always very full, with symphony concerts, chamber music, choir music and even events for children. One of the main shows is the "Palau 100", a musical cycle with the best orchestras in the entire world.
Barcelona's Carnival
In February for the five days before Shrove Tuesday Barcelona experiences its carnival (called Carnestoltes here) in a very festive atmosphere which includes costume balls and parades.
Feast of Sant Jordì - 23 April
The feast of St. George is Valentine's Day for Barcelona's inhabitants. According to tradition, on this day young men give a rose to each young women, who returns the gift with a book. The Ramplas fills with hundreds of book stands for Sant Jordì.
MotOh BCN

Formula 1 Catalonia Gran Prix, in May

SONAR - in June
Electronic music is a very serious thing in Barcelona. Sonar is a major international festival of Advanced Music, Multimedia and Urban Art. It is one of the most important events of its kind in the world and draws thousands of fans from every country.
Feast of Sant Joan, 23 June
Barcelona celebrates the summer solstice with a night of bonfires and fireworks in every quarter of the city. The best parties are on the beach where people gather to celebrate until dawn.
Barcelona Grec Festival
Spectacular summer festival held in June and July. Barcelona is inundated with a series of theater, music, literature, dance and flamenco. The events are held in Montjuïc's Greek theater and in Poble Espanyol.
Fiesta de la Mercè In September
The fiesta de La Mercè is the most important event in Barcelona for Catalonia's traditions. During this time it is possible to see the famous human pyramids, the castellers, as well as sardana dancers, parades of mythological Catalan characters and events.
BAM - Barcelona Acciò Musical
Barcelona hosts a major music festival with the best European groups at the same time as the Fiesta de la Mercè. The performances are held in various venues in the city, many outdoors: CCCB, Rambla del Raval, Plaça de Catalunya and the Forum.
Barcelona International Jazz Festival
From the end of October to beginning of December. One of Europe's best jazz events. It hosts the major names on the international scene representing all the types of this popular music genre. The concerts are held at Palau de la Musica, Auditori and various other locations in the city.
